    Fan Speed Modification

These instructions will assist you in installing the fan speed modification in your DigiCart/II. Please pay strict attention when you are disassembling the unit. Failure to do so will result in damage. Read all instructions before attempting to replace the circuit board. These instructions can also be used to replace the fan only in a DigiCart/II Plus. To order only the fan itself use product number 10940612T4712.

BEFORE YOU BEGIN: This modification to your DigiCart/II must be performed by qualified electronics personnel. Do not attempt this upgrade unless you have some experience working with electronics assemblies. You must follow the directions exactly to avoid any damage to the circuit board or components.

You will need the following tools and materials:
(The first 4 parts are included in the thermostatically controlled fan kit: product number D-FAN-KIT)
• Hardware (2 screws, 2 nuts)
• 2 pieces of heatshrink
• Fan, P/N: 10940612T4H12
• FanMod board assembly

Also:
• Phillips screwdriver
• Wire strippers

CAUTION

Electric Shock Hazard
To protect against injury or electric shock, and to ensure against damage to the DigiCart/II you must disconnect the unit from AC power.

Static Sensitive Components
Components on the circuit boards may be damaged by static electricity carried on your fingers and tools. To avoid damage to components, always touch the metal chassis before touching the surface of the circuit boards.

PROCEDURE:
1. Make sure power switch to DigiCart is off.
2. Take off DigiCart cover by removing four screws.
3. Remove screws to the old fan and lift it from the DigiCart chassis. NOTE: It may be necessary to remove the Bernoulli drive in order to remove the bottom screw of the old fan, or when installing the new fan: Remove two screws on the side of the DigiCart securing the Bernoulli drive to the chassis, remove the power and data cables. Carefully lift out the drive, front first.
4. Clip red and black old fan wires at the fan. Strip and tin wires.
5. Secure FanMod board assembly plastic clip to DigiCart chassis: Locate clip next to fan bay, 4" from side (center of unit), 1" from top.
6. Install new fan on DigiCart and secure it with screws. The fan emblem should face the Digicart rear, with the fan wires facing toward the center of the unit. The arrows next to the wires indicate proper direction of air flow.
7. Using the heatshrink, solder black wire from the FanMod board assembly to the black wire that was connected to the old fan.
8. Using the heatshrink, solder red wire from the FanMod board assembly to the red wire that was connected to the old fan.
9. After first making sure that wires are correct, power up the DigiCart and verify that the fan works properly.
10.Turn off the DigiCart and put the cover back on.
