Maximum Storage in a
Classic Broadcast Server

450 Hour Storage  •  3 Video Channels  •  Graphics Store

High Performance, Smart Economics
360 Systems' new MAXX-500 and MAXX-1000 servers provide sophisticated features plus mass storage, all in a compact package. Finally, high performance and an attractive price.
  Large-Scale Performance for Mid Markets.
More than 3,000 360 Systems video servers deliver content across America and the world.

360 Systems' MAXX Image Servers are a clean synthesis of new, file-based workflows and traditional base-band standards. Now, MAXX servers include most Image Server options in a single, attractively priced package.

A MAXX server can operate as a standard definition video recorder, as a 3-channel playout server, and as a graphics store. It's able to record and play broadcast-quality MPEG-2 video (at 4:2:2 bit-rates all the way to 50 Mb/sec), and also exchange MPEG-2 or DV files with popular editors like Final Cut Pro® and Avid®.

For news and live programs, MAXX imports full-screen graphics, ganged key-and-fill pairs and animations, making it a multi-channel graphics source. Create your graphics with Photoshop® or After Effects®; edit video with Final Cut Pro®, Newscutter™, Xpress DV/Pro, or many others-then FTP your finished work to a MAXX Server for playout.
MAXX's combination of hardware and software provides a smooth upgrade path from video tape, and a drop-in replacement for earlier servers. It's ideally suited for weather systems, remote trucks, graphics storage, extra digital channels, and production centers. MAXX includes all the advanced features needed for file-based production and broadcast. But equally important, it retains base-band connectivity, so it's compatible with your existing equipment. Standard features include a frame synchronizer, composite and SDI video ports; AES/EBU and balanced analog audio, and even SDI-embedded audio. A full set of XLR connectors lets MAXX fit easily in existing facilities. There's never a need to buy outboard conversion accessories.

100% Compatible with Leading Automation

360 Systems' servers are on air with all major broadcast automation systems, like Crispin, DTG, Florical, Harris, Nverzion and Sundance; in Europe, choose Ibis, Pebble Beach, ProBel and many others. Pick your system with the confidence that MAXX Image Servers will work exactly as you expect.

MAXX is also a plug-and-play fit with serial commands from switchers like Ross and Echolab. Six GPI ports are also provided, allowing use with push-buttons and switcher outputs. Many popular desk-top controllers, like DNF and BUF, are able to control the server using VDCP, Odetics or P2 protocols.

Production, Storage, and Server in a Cost-Effective Package

MAXX servers include a full-featured Graphic User Interface that easily controls all three video channels at once. VTR-style buttons and time-code displays give it a familiar look and feel, while keyboard shortcuts like J-K-L keys speed up every operation. You'll be able to quickly perform head and tail trims and segment network feeds for broadcast.

Advanced Playlisting tools provide rapid list-building, editing and playout of sequences for news and commercial islands. Included are production-oriented features like drag-and-drop, looping, skip and hold.
For many users, Advanced Playlisting may be all that’s needed to get to air. And accurate time-stamped As-Run logs make reconciliation with traffic easy.

We’ve included our Remote Workstation Software, making it easy to controls a MAXX server from any location in the building. Create work areas wherever you need them for ingest, trimming, segmenting, building playlists, or just monitoring server activity. With the Remote Workstation software, every function on MAXX’s GUI can be controlled from a low-cost PC.

Exceptional Storage Capacity
The MAXX-500 and 1000 servers provide a wide range of recording time and video bit-rate options. They can easily match your needs, yet leave room for future growth.

360 Systems’ RAID technology protects stored program content, by spreading data across four server-grade drives. MAXX’s servers provide a very high level of security, to help keep you on-air, even if a drive should fail. Even then, a drive is easily replaced from the front.

Storage Time in Hours vs Video Bit Rate

A Full Slate of Audio Features
MAXX-500 and 1000 servers include both analog and digital audio circuits as standard equipment; just select the format you want. All audio inputs and outputs use gold XLR connectors, which can be configured for four AES/EBU channels, or two +4 dBu balanced analog channels. Embedded audio is also standard.

MAXX's 24-bit audio provides a 20 dB improvement in SNR (10 times) compared to 16-bit servers. It includes extras, like a sample-rate converter, input circuits with excellent hum and RF rejection, and 20 dB of headroom. Plus, 360 Systems' Bit-for-Bit® design guarantees that when a Dolby®- encoded program is recorded, it will play back as expected.
