Image Server Maxx

360 Systems’ MAXX server redefines what a broadcast video server should provide in today’s world. It’s a clean synthesis of current file-based capabilities and traditional base-band standards. And MAXX includes every 360 Systems option in a single, attractively priced package.

MAXX operates as a video recorder, 3-channel playout server, graphics store (with key-and-fill), and includes a versatile set of production tools. Beyond recording and playing broadcast-quality MPEG-2 video (all the way to 50 Mb), it also imports MPEG-2 and DV files over Gigabit Ethernet from popular editors like Final Cut Pro® and Avid®, as well as TARGA files from graphics programs. As the name implies, MAXX delivers a high level of performance for every task.

The MAXX server’s rich mix of hardware and software provides a smooth upgrade path for tape-based stations. It’s ideally suited for weather systems, remote trucks, graphics storage, extra digital channels and production centers. MAXX includes all the advanced features needed for file-based production and broadcast. But equally important, it retains base-band connectivity and is compatible with your existing equipment. Standard features include a frame synchronizer, composite and SDI video ports; AES/EBU and balanced analog audio, and even SDI-embedded audio. A set of XLR connectors makes MAXX a drop-in fit at existing facilities, and there’s never a need to buy outboard conversion accessories.

Networked Solutions for
Digital Broadcasting

MAXX shares content easily with the rest of the world, thanks to fast file-transfers over Gigabit Ethernet. It connects easily to other servers and NLEs, or to Network Attached Storage. MAXX is able to move content across the room—or across the country—rapidly and at low cost. And of course, it supports MXF file transfers as well as IMX (D10), MPEG-2, TARGA and DV formats.

Applications for
MAXX’s network include:

Transfers to Network Attached Storage

Exchanging content with NLEs

Content sharing over broadband networks

Transfers from a satellite “cache” to an air server

Remote Workstation Interfaces for server control

Archiving and backup

Production Tools and Server in a Cost-Effective Package

MAXX Image Servers come with a full-featured Graphic User Interface that’s able to control all three video channels at once. VTR-style buttons and time code displays give it a familiar look and feel, while keyboard shortcuts like J-K-L keys speed up every operation. You’ll be able to quickly perform head and tail trims and segment network feeds for broadcast.

MAXX’s Advanced Playlisting tools provide rapid list-building, editing and playout of sequences for news or commercial islands. It includes many production-oriented features like drag-and-drop, looping, skip and hold. For many users, Advanced Playlisting may be all that’s needed to get to air. And accurate time-stamped As-Run logs make reconcilliation with traffic easy.

We’ve included our Remote Workstation Software, making it easy to control MAXX from any location in the building. Separate work areas can be created for ingest, trimming and segmenting, building playlists, or just monitoring server activity. With the Remote Workstation software, every function on MAXX’s GUI can now be controlled with a low-cost PC.

100% Compatible with Leading Automation

360 Systems’ servers are on air with leading broadcast automation systems like Crispin, DTG, Florical, Harris, Leightronics, Nverzion and Sundance; in Europe, choose Ibis, Pebble Beach and ProBel. So pick your system with the confidence that MAXX servers will work exactly as you expect.

We’re a plug-and-play fit with serial commands from switchers like Ross and Echolab. Six GPI ports are also included for use with push-button panels and switcher outputs. Many popular desk-top controllers like DNF and BUF are able to control the server using VDCP, Odetics or P2 protocols.

High Reliability RAID Storage

MAXX servers provide your choice of 112 or 170 hours of protected internal storage. Advanced RAID-5 technology spreads data across four serial ATA drives, resulting in a high level of security for program material. MAXX’s storage array helps keep you on-air, even if a drive should fail. And drives are easily replaced from the front panel. The entire package fits in just 3½” of rack space.

MAXX Servers Make Broadcasting More Profitable

360 Systems brings legendary quality and reliability to broadcasting and other mission-critical projects.
