MAXX
6T Delivers Large-Scale Storage, High Reliability and Smart
Economics
360
Systems' new MAXX 6T Server redefines what a broadcast server
should deliver in today's market. MAXX 6T includes 360 Systems'
many server options in a single, attractively priced package.
It's a clean synthesis of modern file-based capabilities,
with the advantages of traditional base-band connections.
The MAXX
6T's extensive hardware features and software tools make it
a smooth upgrade path for tape-based stations. It operates
with every automation system, and is ideally suited as a play-to-air
server, as a cache for satellite ingest, for graphics storage,
in weather systems, remote trucks, and for extra channels
in DTV broadcast.
Operationally,
MAXX 6T functions as a video recorder, 3-channel playout server,
and as a graphics store with key-and-fill. Standard features
include composite and SDI video ports, a frame synchronizer
for recording satellite feeds and other "wild" sources, and
a complete set of audio formats including AES/EBU digital,
+4 balanced analog, and SDI-embedded audio. A break-out box
with XLR connectors makes MAXX a drop-in fit at existing facilities.
There's never a need to buy outboard accessories.

The file-based
features of MAXX 6T make a big difference in speeding up production
and broadcast tasks. Beyond recording and playing broadcast-quality
MPEG-2 video, it exchanges over Gigabit Ethernet with popular
NLEs like Final Cut ProŽ and AvidŽ. TARGA files, with an alpha
channel, can also be imported from many graphics programs.

Networking
Power for
Digital Broadcasting
Sharing
content with the rest of the world is easy with MAXX 6T, thanks
to its fast file-transfers over Gigabit Ethernet. It connects
with other servers, NLEs, and to affordable Network Attached
Storage for almost unlimited capacity. MAXX 6T is able to
move content across the room-or across the country-rapidly
and at low cost. Transfers support not only MXF (MPEG-2),
but also TARGA and DV-25 file formats. With 6 Terabytes of
storage, MAXX's price tag would be attractive as just archive
storage-an important issue with vast quantities of program
material. But with MAXX, an archive has the advantage of being
a fully-redundant play-to-air server at the same time. Just
switch over automation control, and keep on broadcasting!
Applications for
MAXX 6T's network include:
.
Exchanging content with NLEs
.
Transfers between satellite "cache" and air servers
.
File exchange with other MXF servers
.
Archive with playout capability
.
File exchange with Network Attached Storage
.
Sharing content with affiliates over broadband
networks
.
Remote Workstations for ingest, trimming and
playlisting

Designed
for Reliability
Every part of the MAXX 6T is designed to deliver
the high level of reliability required in 24/365 broadcast
operations.
REDUNDANT POWER AND COOLING
Its dual power supplies use separate AC mains, and can be
exchanged while the server is on air. Forced-air cooling uses
conservatively rated redundant fans, and each is easily exchanged
should replacement become necessary. The server's sophisticated
alarm system also warns of problems before they become serious.
ADVANCED RAID-6 STORAGE
The MAXX 6T frame provides 6 Terabytes of internal storage-more
than 700 hours of program time. 360 Systems' Double Fault TolerantT
RAID-6 technology spreads program data across every drive in
the array, for the highest level of security. As many as two
drives can fail without compromising program safety or server
performance. Drives are hot-swappable, and easily replaced from
behind the front panel. |

Advanced Tools for
Production, Broadcasting,
and Content Management
The MAXX 6T comes with a very complete Graphic
User Interface, able to control all video channels at once.
VTR-style buttons and time code displays give it a familiar
look and feel, while keyboard shortcuts like J-K-L keys speed
up operations. You'll be able to quickly perform head and
tail trims, and segment network feeds for broadcast.
Advanced Playlisting tools provide rapid list-building,
editing and playout of sequences for news or commercial islands.
It includes many production-oriented features like drag-and-drop,
looping, skip and hold. For many users, Advanced Playlisting
may be all that's needed to get to air. And As-Run logs make
reconciliation with traffic easy.
We've included Remote Workstation Software,
allowing full control of MAXX from any location in the building
using only Ethernet and a low-cost PC. Set up work stations
for ingest, edit, review, playlisting and playout anywhere
you need them.
Compatible with Leading Broadcast
Equipment
360 Systems'
servers are on air with 27 broadcast automation systems. Choose
from market leaders like Crispin, Florical, Harris, Nverzion
and Sundance. In Europe, it's Ibis, Pebble Beach ProBel, Ninsight
and many more. So pick your system with the confidence that
the MAXX 6T will work exactly as you expect.
MAXX 6T
is also a plug-and-play fit with serial control from video
switchers like Ross and Echolab, accepting commands to play
up to three channels of video and graphics in perfect sync.
We've even included six GPI ports, for control by push-button
panels and switcher outputs.
Most popular
desk-top controllers can control MAXX 6T, making it a good
choice for sports and entertainment. A new tree-shaped directory
and fast search functions quickly locate any clip among thousands.

On-Line
Archiving
With the MAXX 6T's attractive price, on-line
archiving of video content makes economic sense for the first
time. With 6 Terabytes of storage and three VDCP playout channels,
the material you need is always on-line and ready to play.
There's no need to transfer it from off-line storage to a
play-to-air server; it's always ready to go.
